This week marks 8 years since Joaquim Prata, now 63 years old and originally from Cranston, RI, went missing, and the Freetown Police Department remains dedicated to bringing him home. On Sunday, October 4, 2015, Joaquim disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind his work vehicle, personal belongings, and a note that left his family and co-workers deeply concerned.
On that day, our officers responded to Fernandes Masonry Company at 179 Braley Road in East Freetown. Inside Joaquim’s work truck, we located his wallet, ID, credit cards, cell phone, and a note that read, “Without love at home, life is hard, without luck, life is impossible, don’t come looking for me.”
Despite extensive efforts to locate him, Joaquim Prata remains missing to this day. We are once again calling upon our community, emphasizing that every piece of information, no matter how small, remains vital in this ongoing case. Your tip could make a difference.
Please contact Detective Shane Kelley at 508-763-4017 or skelley@freetownpolice.org with any information that might help us bring Joaquim Prata home.
